Earth Day is for Knitters

Knitting is a great hobby for the eco-conscious. Patricia's Yarns customers knit re-usable shopping bags, make projects using environmentally friendly yarns, and often request environmentally sustainable fibers. Here is a list of great projects for Earth Day.

Stow away shopping bag is an Oat Couture pattern that will carry plenty of groceries and eliminate the need for a plastic bag!

If you are thinking of making an earth day gift for a friend you could knit up a quick coffee cup sleeve - a simple stockinette or experiment with cables for more fun!

Almost any sleeve can easily be knit up in an afternoon! A great use for leftover scraps from your stash!

There are many options for environmentally friendly knit projects available to us so lets keep the positive motion towards doing our part for the Earth. Happy Earth Day.

Rowan Miniatures Floyd

A newly finished project for the shop is Floyd from Rowan Minature Classics knit out of a shop favorite Kersti, a beautiful yarn from Koigu.
This is a fantastic design for children from birth to age 3 and is so soft when knit in Kersti. The pocket detail is fun & makes a great hiding place for toys.

This was a very fast knit made of 2 skeins. The pattern is from the book Rowan Miniature Classics.

"Hoppy" Spring

Spring officially started a few weeks ago. We are now graced with sunny afternoons perfect for knitting at a park or cafe. This sweet little bunny is a cute, portable project great as a gift for the child in your life.

The pattern is called "Hop" and is designed by Susan B. Anderson for Blue Sky Alpacas. It was very fun to knit up & is well designed to hold up as a take-along toy.

The yarn used is the Hand Spun Organic Cotton from Blue Sky for the bunny & skinny dyed cotton for the sweater. "Hop" on by the shop to check him out! Have a happy spring!
