Mother Bear Project

The Mother Bear Project is a charity that melted my heart a few years ago & I hope that it warms yours as well. It is an organization that collects & distributes hand knit bears to children affected by HIV/AIDS in emerging nations. To date over 38,000 bears have been donated towards this loving cause.

To help this effort Patricia's Yarns will be hosting their 2nd Bear Knit In at Grimaldi's Pizza on Monday May 4th from 6-9 PM. If you would like to participate, please sign up at the shop to register & save your seat as space is limited!

Cost: $20
Date: Monday May 4th
Time: 6-9
Location: Grimaldi's Pizza, 133 Clinton St. @ 2nd

An Afghan for Charity

It's amazing what knitters can do when they come together for pizza, a little wine, conversation and a mission:

We are please to present you with this year's Afghan for the Hoboken Homeless Shelter Silent Auction. This blanket was started at our Charity Knit Night at Grimaldi's Pizzeria back in July. Twenty knitters casted on their square that night and began what we hoped would be a gorgeous blanket. The squares began showing up at the shop and soon were stitched together and blocked. What we discovered as the blanket dried was that gorgeous was indeed an understatement.

This afghan was knit out of Manos del Uruguay wool classica and will be available for your bid 0n Wednesday night December 3rd at Teak during the Hoboken Homeless Shelter Annual Silent Auction.

If you cannot wait for then to see it, come by the shop to check it out for yourself :-)

Charity Knitting Event

Last year we made a blanket for the Hoboken Homeless Shelter's Silent Auction with the help of many knitters to create a unique blanket. This year we've decided to be proactive and start in July. The official Charity Knitting night is Monday the 14th at Grimaldi's. If you haven't registered and would like to there's still time! It's $15 and registration in advance is required. Here's the yarn ready to go...

It's Manos del Uruguay in semi solid color #64 - Pewter.

With permission from Judith Shangold we will be using the patterns from her book, "Four Seasons Throws, a Design Source Collection". The patterns range from easy to intermediate and will generate a gorgeous blanket for the auction.

Thank you for all who have signed up. If you want to join in come by this weekend as there are still a few spots.

Looking forward to Grimaldi's Pizza & knitting!!
